New Developments

Programmes for young people with special needs and disabilities

Some parents have approached us to see if we can work with them to provide some activities for children and young people with special needs. We are keen to develop this area of work. After discussions with the parents we are putting in some 'taster' activities in our events programme and working on some ideas with some arts groups. Our intention, where possible, is to be 'inclusive' and make it easy for people with special needs or particular disabilities to join in with our mainstream activities. But, we recognise that there may be a need as well for sessions that focus on particular groups to allow them to build their confidence and to get to know what Under the Edge Arts has to offer them. If you have a child or teenager with special needs who you would like to involve in these programmes, or if you want to help develop this work, please do contact us.

Encouraging older people and people living in sheltered accommodation

We want the project to have something for all sections of the community, young and old. We are starting some consultation work with older residents in Wotton and those living in sheltered housing to find out about their interests in the arts and what we can do to involve them in our programmes. If you are an older resident of Wotton (a 'silver surfer' maybe!) or work with older people and would like to get involved, please contact us.

New exhibitions

We want artists to help us develop our exhibitions programme. We would like to see a mix of exhibitions, of individual or groups of artists' work, themed exhibitions that involve groups from the local community and exhibitions that link with other art forms.
